Default Choosing a Sound Card for OSX

    Hi
Now that I've decided I'll use LogicExpress on my Mac, I am still looking for a decent Sound Card.
I need a pair of XLR.
Regarding my budget, I reduced the possibilities to the following :
    • ESI Quatafire 610 (but there won't be OSX drivers until April and Logic doesn't seem to handle its 192kHz frequency rate... Anyway, I won't either)
    • M-Audio Firewire 410 (Seems good but it has MIDI IO which I do not plan to use as I have a Midex8)
    • A set composed of [list:42d935feb9]
    • a Behringer Ultramatch pro SR2496 which will acquire the XLR stereo signal and convert it into a 24bit/96kHz signal which will be acquired using a
    • Midiman Transit USB
    [/list:u:42d935feb9]
I somehow like the third choice though I have no idea of the resulting latency.

I assume here that I need Firewire but I won't actually record more than a stereo track at once. I chose this port because of the various articles which specified it'd be perfect in terms of latency. But I have seen a dirt-cheap occasion Tascam US428 which I guess could also be nice with Logic Express, so I need advice

    Any suggestion, someone ?

never believe manufacturers predicted dates on driver availability... they invariably slip... and sometimes never appear.

    Default Incredible

I just found out an info I was looking for on Apple's web site :
It was actually well hidden, in the Powerbook developer documentation : The internal sound circuit has a 24 bit resolution, NOT 16 bit.
They also claim 90dB of dynamics which leads me to consider beginning with LogicExpress and an XLR to jack and later (i.e. once all the manufacturers will have issued the new cards they showed in the NAMM) find a good, cheap and new sound card.

I wouldn't recommend the FW-410. Users on both Windows and Mac
are experiencing problems. Some people seem to have no
trouble at all and others are not happy customers.
