    Default Unplugging and Replugging everything....

really cleans up the sound. This bimonthly hi-fi 'trick' works for guitars, amps and FX pedals too. I would also expect it to work on home studio kit.

Simply unplug and replug everything a few times. The mains cables, signal cables and wallwart supplies. Everything that is plugged in. Don't forget all those links on your pedal board. The theory is that the unplugging and replugging action scrapes away any contamination of the contacts. Whatever the explanation, it really works.

Even better, try cleaning with brasso! Gives excellent sound!

Also, energiser batteries are better, and aged picks should be avoided against new ones.

The practice, of course, is that it takes long enough to do (and the bloodflow through your brain changes sufficiently from the physical exertion) to render any before/after comparison worthless.

No; whatever the attempt to suggest it works, there's naff-all evidence that it does.

Surely some contact cleaner would be better if you're unplugging and re-plugging stuff.
At least it SHOULD be a bit cleaner. Whether it needs cleaning or not is debatable. My board only get unplugged when I move the pedals round, and my tone doesn't deteriorate to my ears.........

That's because if you leave everything plugged in, contaminants cannot enter

I heard it lets all the noise pixies out through the jack sockets which reduces the flux capacitance on the Burr Brown repto-flanges.

Personally I don't believe it with our 240v supplies they'd be noise goblins not pixies.

This is true. My words were in direct response to the OP. And I did mention that contact cleaner would do a better job. The whole plug in- plug out sounds like a waste of time to me......
