Blue Tortex (1.00) for me on electrics, and occasionally the Green ones for acoustic when I want a bit more 'snap' in the tone.

I use a variety of picks between 3mm and 6mm

Anything less than 3mm is limp-wristed and girly

Ooops, I forgot there's a small version, I'm using the "Big Stubby".
Maybe I should try the small ones.

Thickness affects grip, stiffness affects the feel and (arguably) the sound.

Interesting. I find that thinner picks suit me OK, mind you I am not much of a shredder to be honest.

Paul Gilbert switched to thinner picks for a while and he seemed to have no problems in playing fast......

Like I say, I know it's personal preference but just getting the general concensus on this. I remember when I first started playing guitar I used a Dunlop Nylon .60mm pick as it was all I could get at the time. My guitar tutor told me that it was no good and he gave me a .88 Tortex pick to use. I often wonder where some people get their "thicker picks are better" notions from. What works for one person surely doesn't mean it'll work for everyone.
