I just ignore the PC threads and continue. Sometimes I get off a barb
to remind people just how good Macs really are :P

I prefer the forum as it is, personally.

Heh, you too huh? Actually, I think the only way to appreciate how good macs are is to own one... I took a rather "yeah, yeah... whatever" attitude until I decided to get one myself  Perhaps other people think similarly??

    Default Good idea...

I've been piddling about on my PC for about eight years now, i finally had enough, what with constant registry issues and poor latency, re-formatting and re-installing. I spent more time trying to write music than actually writing it, so i bought myself a G4 laptop, it goes without saying that i was impressed. Programs do what they are told and rarely crash, if they do, they are easily terminated. The only isssue i have at present is that i got away with not having to buy any software for my PC as there was always freeware or software from 'other sources'. Why is this not an option for the Mac?

Logic seems like the obvious choice, express is sub £200, but what is the difference between pro and express? Is it just a licencing issue or are there major differences? If there is something on the Emagic site that describes the differences, i seem to have missed it.

There are issues that concern either PC or Mac it just seems like there is no reason not to have a mac only post...

    FM?

There is a actually quite a lot of free/shareware for OSX, if you do a search on the forum I gave some links to someone else recently.

The main differences are the plugins, you don't get the full EXS just the player, you don't get sound-designer etc. There are also limits on track numbers, you don't get group channels, and for reasons best known to themselves they've hamstrung some of the basic MIDI operations (no MIDI mute, only very basic hyperdraw controls).
