    Default Session Pro DD505 prob

Any of you gents know anything about these?

I use them for teaching and they aren't the most sturdy of animals. I've got a cymbal sensor stopped working, and a hum has appeared on another. Any ideas?

Yeah, just wondering if anyone out there had any experience of them.

    Hi

I've had a similar problem. Here's what to do.

First, make sure the cable is not the faulty item by checking it with another (working) cymbal.

Assuming that the cable is fine, dismantle each faulty cymbal (just a few screws) and examine the thin wires frim the sensor (round disc) to the jack socket. Has one of them been trapped and crushed when original assembly took place?

If a wire has actually been severed then the best fix would be to strip back the insulation on each broken end by about 1/4" , run a litlle solder on to each bare end, push a sleeve on to one of the wire ends (and past the bare part), solder together the bare ends then cover the joint with the sleeve.

If you are nor confident about soldering then strip back the insulation, twist the bare ends together and wrap with insulation tape. Not as good as soldering but it'll do.

Before you reassemble, test the sensor by by connecting it to the 'brain' and tapping it with your fingertip. Assuming all well, reassemble (taking care NOT to trap the wires) and Robert is your father's brother!

Cheers Ray. The two wires had become detached - could they be any thinner?

I have one of my cymbals in bits right now awaiting this very fix. I couldnt beleive how thin the wires are eaither. Im thinking i might replace with slightly longer wires and electrical tape a "loop" down so that stress is no longer on the solder joint.

I havn't done the fix yet, but this is exactly what I'm planning on doing. I'm going to use the existing wires though, as I don't want any heat on the sensor - I doubt it would stand it.
