I love writing stuff when I'm ill; it's much easier to just let your thoughts go and really get into a creative mode.

Lovely and mellow, I enjoyed the way the main melody managed to remain beautifully simple and hold my attention throughout, building occasionally then drifting back down again.

I'm really liking clickey IDM style beats at the moment - just moved into a place with another producer who is into making that style of house.
This is really cool stuff, keeping this on my hard drive to share with my housemates if you don't mind?

Thanks a lot for listening and commenting! I dont mind at all u keeping the track, it's cool if you share it with more people
After several times of listening to it myself and some more critical comments from my mates I decided to keep working on this track. So, there will be new versions soon.

You should tag your mp3 better if you're sending this out via sendspace ...

Still, very simple and effective track. I'm not so keen on the dubby delay on the beats, automating this in and out a bit more would have given a bit more variation imo.

Otherwise, great quality stuff. How'd you put it together out of interest?
Guitars, effects, a computer, Logic Pro, effects, some more effects ... oh and some effects.

Well, my tool of the trade is Reason 3 and I try to use factory sounds and synth patches while working on my projects. This one is not an exception. I used an external sample for ambient pads at the background, though.

IDM clicky drums were made in the following way: I loaded a drum loop into Dr:Rex loop player, copied the loop's midi part into a sequencer track and then randomized the part using the "Change Events" function after selecting all the part. Then I loaded a digital delay line and wired it to Dr:Rex as an insert. Then a Matrix pattern sequencer was added which is used to randomize triggering the DDL and to control slice pitch of the drum-loop in Dr:Rex via CV. I programmed one pattern in Matrix and then copied it and pasted it several times into empty pattern slots in Matrix. Then I randomized each pattern pasted to add some unpredictability to the rhythm and delay. That was the most difficult part of programming

The rest is quite simple: melody is an arpeggioed Rhodes under some heavy reverb. The bass line just follows it. After that I decided on adding some four-to-the-floor rhythmic loop to make the second half of the track more energetic. The loop also comes from an external sound bank and I didn't mess around with it, cause it sounds just right with the rest of the stuff. That's it.

    Default Track updated

Imported the midi parts of this track into Logic, experimented with AU-s and added some acoustic drums from Logic's sound library. Still working on it, but the track got some post-rock aura now
