    Aft'noon slide dudes...

I've recently acquired a Dobro (square-neck style) and wonder if anyone can point me in the direction of a decent pick-up system which would enable me to record it direct into my PC?

I really can't justify the outlay on an expensive microphone as i wouldn't get enough use out of one. Ideally, i'd like something which i can just plug straight into my POD or whatever. I know the sound will be compromised a bit but for the basic home recording set-up i have, i think it should just about do the job.

Does anyone have any experience/recommendations with these? I think you can get both external guitar-style pick-ups, and ones which are fixed underneath the resonator, bit not really sure about the difference in the sound they produce?

Until i get this sorted, i'm afraid no-one is going to know just how uncannily like Jerry Douglas i play and sound.........actually i sound more like Jack Douglas at the moment, but i can dream.

Call the London Resonator Centre, they'll put you straight.

Well, seeing as this thread hasn't seen a new post for a while, and my post with an acoustic slide version of The Ballad Of Curtis Leowe sank quicker than a mob informant on his way to sleep with the fishes, I thought I may as well pimp it here too!

I'm gettting well back into slide.

Thinking of setting up the Firebird for open tunings and high action. Maybe if I have a dedicated slide guitar I can get into electric slide?

I listened to this t'other day and thought it was quite fantastic.

I actually like the reverby vocal. After reading bert's comments I also agreed that the icing on the cake would be some dynamics (ie give it some wallop in a couple of places where it fits) but yet again I'm extremely impressed and envious I didn't post originally as I'm starting to sound like a fanboy  (btw let me know when you're round HQ and we can do lunch  )
