 okay, so if I train a spider to come when I whistle and cut off all it's legs, it's safe to assume it's ears are in it's legs? It's hardly scientific saying "they do sometimes therefore it's FACT"
Shite analogy. No accuracy at all.
Factually, they have come in. There is evidence of that fact. They have responded. Which bit dont you understand?
As ever you will try to wriggle out of something plain as day to a man with a brain and an ounce of common sense.
:? Grow up Frank. Its everyones forum. Not one for you to prescribe what we say.

Put a space or a dot between the 8 and the ) and you won't get 8)

<gonna regret but need to say>

You're a funny, clever, knowledgable guy Frankus and yes we've had the odd altercation in the past but I always regret it straight afterwards.

This isn't the first time you've tried to govern what goes on in this place though is it? Ok people like yourself get pissed off with OT stuff taking over but it always settles down doesn't it?

I'm sure we all have our own ideas about what we'd prefer the forum to be like and I'm sure many, many people would prefer it without me here but what it all comes down to is the forum is the forum and is outside of anyone else's control but the moderators.

I think you're obviously a really good guy and would love to meet you in person without all the bullshit crossed wires that go on over not being able to see people's facial expressions etc, but seriously dude when it comes down to it, you can't change anything can you? None of us can!

Yes ok, this place may be a safe haven from all the OT crap that goes on in the main place and I know your post was tongue in cheek. Me saying this could be conceived as hypocritical but I'm not the one trying to change anything, all I'm saying is let the forums breathe! (And give peace a chance)

Sometimes you'll get a good day sometimes it's overrun with dicks like me; but please stop trying to control it coz you can't, I can't, no-one in the top ten posters can and even the mythical forum elders can't.

Only the moderators can and they have their own reasons for what they do and don't allow whether we agree or not.

FWIW and IMVHO sometimes it does smack of bullying when a group of 30+ year old men gang up on teenage girls/noobs etc. for being OT, I know that's not the intention, it's just how it comes across.

You're obviously fed up and I've not been around today to see things as they happened so I do feel really bad about posting this. I will buy you many, many pints* to make up for it if we ever meet but I had to say this sorry, I've been biting my tongue for too long.

You don't know me and I don't know you, I'm not really Grover and you've never claimed to be a Pokemon so I know I'm out of order posting this, please take a deep breath before responding.

Finally just like to re-iterate that I think you're a really cool, witty, valued member of the community before I click submit and regret what I've done.

    Okay.

So NeilE can tell me to "grow up" or PM me a little tirade.. because I'm "trying to control the forum".

It's not okay for me to recommend more sensible means of contacting the magazine editors: that'd be "bullying".

It's okay to complain about the way the magazine is written on a forum, to try and produce some kind of mandate that MIGHT be read by the editors, rather than write directly to the editors.

It's not okay to post a vote on the forum to see if people think the forum is being mis-used because that's me trying to appoint myself as a "regulator of the forum".

Right, I think I get the "rules" now.. gee, are there any more?

    Come on guys, calm down.
The GT team is happy for everyone here to have their say whatever it maybe.
We continue to work hard at balancing the content in GT to what we think is important and informative along with direct feedback from readers. In truth, this forum is a tiny section of our feedback so although some of you may feel it's often negative GT issues discussed on here, many more email/write to us with opposite views. If we weren't doing something right, we'd have closed by now!
As you know, GT is rock and blues biased and will remain that way. We will also feature music occasionally that was run before years ago. If we get lots of requests to do Highway To Hell/Smoke On The Water/Money/Sunshine Of Your Love etc - the big crowd pleasing songs for our beloved instrument - then why should we not run them again? I'm certainly happy to record or proof read them for the upteenth time (especially as I'm involved in all three of Future's guitar mags).
But the real drive and USP for GT is the tutorial content - we have a fantastic team of writers for GT and it's been greatly expanded over the past few years. That's why we can analyse with considerable insight bands/players like Meshuggah, Brent Mason, Clapton, Jose Gonzalez, Santana or the Shadows. And being a tech orientated mag we will embrace modern shred techniques as much as finger picked DADGAD pieces or dealing with odd time signatures. Certainly, if you're a serious and dedicated student of the guitar (and we all are in truth), you're referencing the right source!
So please, continue posting and requesting - we always aim to please.

    cheers,
    J

I do think better use could be made of the forums - there are three of which Guitarist is the most popular. Why not have one for questions about the content in magazines and one for technique and leave Guitarist as it is? Often there are some excellent threads on the Guitarist forum which vanish without a trace and currently the buddy threads take up half of the first page.

Why not move the buddy threads to GT and turn it into a techniques only forum? Just an idea.
