    D Maj7 adding a 5th?

    So, would that be a D12? or does that only work with domiant 7ths?

    You don't usually say 'add12'... And the 2nd fret E string is F# which is the 3rd of Dmaj, and you're still playing the 7th, so just Dmaj7
