Yeah i have to confirm that chris knows his stuff and is very keenly priced. I bought a Mesa mark 5 from the USA and he swapped out the 110v tranny for a 240v (I supplied) for £40! Just don't try and ring him out of hours, he doesn't appreciate that!!

He 'fixed' my fender twin. I took it to him to have it biased and some new OP valves fitted. When it came back it didn't seem as loud to me but he assured me that he had measured it on a scope and it was correct. He said that he had changed a few resistors and capacitors as kind of preventative measure as well. I took his word for it and sold it the same evening (which was why I had the valves changed I knew they were on their way out) The new owner was never fully happy with it, it then went to another forum member who was not happy with it either and too it to ICBM who said that some resistors had been replaced with ones that were unsafe, Something like he had used ones rated to 50 volts in a line that required 400 volts. After he had re-fixed it and a couple of other things it was finally back to normal and back to full volume.

Next time I have an amp that needs fixing I'll go back to driving an hour each way to see John Chambers in Nottingham rather than the 5 minutes to blueberry pie, when he fixes them they work well afterwards....

Have you tried phoning some of the local music shops near you? I know that E-Street Music in Faversham use a guy whose name escapes me, and a chum sent off his ailing JCM800 to be fixed and was very happy with the result.

How about Mac's in Herne Bay - could be worth a call to see who they use?

Other than that there is County Music and Hobgoblin Music in Canterbury but I can't recall any music shops in Thanet...do you have any over that way?!

There's one in Broadstairs, bugger-all in Margate, nothing around here. I know Mac from Herne Bay, used to have a band called Mac's Diner, but he's retired now. I'll try the Faversham guys, see what they do, so thanks. I haven't got a problem right now, but it's handy to know a good tech.

Have to recommend Greg at Guitar Aid (www.GuitarAid.co.uk) in East Putney, just about 5 minutes walk from East Putney tube station, fixed my HT1R and whilst it was a straight-forward job he had done it within 48 hours and only charged me a minimal fee. Really nice guy!

Have never used him before but have heard alot Roger Kenyon, in West London, can't remember which part, Uxbridge or something. Supposed to be really good and a Marshall Specialist. My guitar tech recommended him so he must be alright!
