Aye, it starts getting a bit mad if you start with the ad lib.

I've used a bit of compression, an exciter (no idea how to use this so just used a preset!), a bit of reverb, and EQ on the main vocal line only).

I have no idea why there is 30 seconds of blank space at the end, there isn't anything visible on Tracktion!

I thought that sounded bloody ace The harmony parts on the vocals had a certain Bangles kinda vibe to them!!

My only comment is the short stabbing chords you play at, for example, around 15 or 16 seconds, they sound like they are sitting way on top of everything. Under the vocals at around 23 seconds they sound fine, but on there own they sound...the only word I can think of is "detached", if that makes sense?

Not sure if its a mixing thing or the clean tone is maybe to clean, or maybe even just my ears not being to well versed in the song but those chords strums just seem to jump out at me - don't for 1 second think its a critisism though coz it's not, just an observation.

I think its brill and your mom will love it and you should be very proud of your efforts.

Aw, thanks, Rich. I feel better now someone's heard it, and liked it!

I know what you mean about some of the chords standing out, I think it was my playing, so they'll probably have to stay like that, although I suppose I could snip bits of the track out and reduce the volume/add effects differently etc. I may do that if I have time.

Thanks for listening, and thanks for the positive comments. I felt good about the vocals yesterday, but on hearing it today I wasn't so sure. Glad I was right first time

Where's the yellow 'out' marker when you tell it to export the track? When I export/render I always click the cursor to the start and hit 'i' (keyboard shortcut for the 'in' marker, then click the cursor where I want it to finish and hit 'o' (you guessed it . . . ) then you know where you're at.

Good track by the way 8)

imho (I'm no singer!) the opening solo vocal bit sounds a teeny bit less confident than, for example, the solo vocal bit after the first harmony - but that's being picky.
    Red ones are better.

    Cheers for the Tracktion advice.

And cheers for listening. You're absolutely right about the opening vocal, it is a bit weak isn't it. Maybe I'll re-record it, but I doubt it! I don't suppose my Mum will notice too much

That sounds brilliant, Clare! It has really come on from the original guitar and drums only track you posted. Vocals are sounding brilliant too, but I agree with Timmyo about how you don't sound too confident at the start, but it doesn't take long for you get into it.

Oh yeah, sorry but I can't help but giggle when you sing "please say to me you'll let me be your man" ops:

Your mom is going to be well impressed though. Do you have any siblings? If so, you are totally going to be her favourite! 8)

    Cheers, James.

It makes me giggle when I hear the 'man' bit too, but I didn't really feel I could change such a well known song - it didn't feel right!

Mum, heard it on Sunday, and loved it. And I do have a sister...
