    Cool - please do Clarky.....

To be honest it's a technique I've spent years practising, but I rarely use it live cos it always sounds like a cheap YJM rip-off. As a result, I tend to try and mix it up using things I've learnt from studying Verheyen......more interesting for me, and hopefully more interesting for anyone listening!

Find the time dude, write it up ;-)

The book sounds interesting. D'you happen to know the title? I'm a massive Nuno fan, though it's pretty much impossible to copy his playing – the feel is so unique.

It fits, though, I certainly wasn't making a case for Bettencourt as a major employer of sweeping – he plainly isn't – in fact, it more or less disappears from his playing after Extreme I.

Hmm. I always thought Yngwie's sweeping was kinda personal to him. Becker, Friedman and (to a lesser degree) Kotzen have more widely copied techniques – or at least people have got closer to their sound.

I'm afraid I don't really "get" Gambale. The melodies he uses as heads are far too twee for me and I think he lacks grit. His teaching materials make very interesting study, though.

I can do better than that:
    Get it here....

    Bargain at £6.87.
It's actually a really good book, the EJ articles are interesting as well, and there's loads of good exercises in general.

    Enjoy.

right now I'm doing sweep exercises that involve slides...

sweep up through one fingering, slide to another voicing / inversion of the same chord and sweep down...

sounds nice if the sweep is small.. like only 5 notes - which is just using the 1st, 2nd and 3rd string...

the tricky part is not only the finger but also controlling the rate of the slide to keep things even..
