    Default fast runs, anyone?

    hello

i'm looking for any fast scale runs, either going up or down a scale, preferably the natural minor, major, or pentatonic.

i can go up and down in 3rds, and descend and ascend in 3's. if you understand.

ive also been trying desending in 4s, quite difficult!

    cheers

I'm guilty of never practising these 'move in set interval' patterns.. I should.. ops: So in short, I can't help you. Best thing to do is mess abuot on your own or get the interval you want and create your own run.

I have a way cool descending pattern using 3 note per string shapes. Basically, you descend 4 notes, go back to the 2nd note and play 5 notes as a quintuplet, so in E minor starting at the 12th fret on the High E, you'd play:-

    E--12--10-8-----10-8------------
    B-------------12-------12-10-8--

    P--U---D--U--D--D-U-D--U--D--

You repeat this pattern on each pair of strings using the relevent 3 notes from the 3 NPS shape.

How to pick this is VERY important - You start the group iof 4 with an upstroke, and you strict alternate pick, but the last of the group of 4 (a downstroke) is continued in an economy pick to play the first of the group of 5, which is strict alternate picked again (bringing the picking motion back in synch for the next pairof strings - The economy pick should be slightly faster than the previous strict altenate picking as you're going from straight 8ths to quintuplets - it helps define the change in rhythmic grouping.
