    Default Health benefits of drumming?

Alright, since starting drumming i've noticed it's a bit more tiring than playing guitar!

What i'm interested in is what type of excersise is drumming mainly? I've noticed it tends to make my muscles work hard but I rarely get epicly sweaty, so I'm guessing it's mainly non-cardio (or does this change if you start playing extreme metal?)

See what I'm planning to do is use the gym for strict cardio, eg bike, treadmill, rowing machine and cross trainer, then do an hour's drumming after. I'm not bothered about becoming a beefcake, just improve general fitness and lose some weight (yes I'm aware that pacing of diet and what you eat has a great effect as well).

Massive health benefits to drumming. 400-600 calories lost per hour:

As to the specifics of what is exercised etc. it seems there is no straight answer to that.....for now...

Its arobic and anarobic dude. I would question the health aspects of drumming because you sit down to play therefore the legs are subject to blood clots like a long haul flight and this also has an effect on the heart and cardiovasculure circuit hense the amount of drummers who have had strokes or have heart related problems.this can be made worse if you smoke..
