T.V. Themes

Back in the day when Total Guitar used to be good, they ran a section dedicated to transcribing T.V. Themes. It was very good. They went through all the classics and even did a solo guitar version of 'Postman Pat'. I have fond memories of this section.

Any chance Guitarist would fancy picking up on this idea? I'd love to see 'The Rockford Files', 'Alfonso Bonzo' or 'Mr. Benn' in the mag or you could even introduce a new generation to classics such as 'Grange Hill' and 'Rainbow'.

There's some really great tunes in those classic TV themes. I remember TG did the Grange Hill theme a while back... that started life as a piece of library music.

I always like the pleasant surprises you get when you hear the full versions of the themes... both the BBC Grandstand and Rainbow themes have surprising (possibly ill-advised :wink middle sections.

I've always imagined playing the C.H.i.P.S. theme tune on stage with a massive backing band.....great ending! 8)

Ooh, and on the subject of 80s cop shows, imagine how the Cagney & Lacey theme would sound with twin guitars

It seems to be nearly but not quite the theme to "Roobarb".
