    Default meesage for Bradders

Has Guitarist ever reviewed the Fender Telecaster FMT HH custom?

    http://www.fender.com/products/searc...tno=0262000561

I think it looks fantastic and I like the idea of the coil taps, some private revierwers say you can go from tele/strat sound to Les Paul at the flick of a switch - so it sounds really versatile, several axes in one.

I would be interested to know how it fared in a test, are the pickups going to make a sweet sound or be too aggressive etc

    Thaks

Check the reviews database on the cover CD on the mag - they are all listed there.

I have played one fo those a few times - I cam e very close to buying one - they are brilliant.

iirc there was/is a Korean production one and a US production one (they may have slightly different names. The Korean one looked to be great value, not so the US one. Also for a period I think they used Fender pickups ahile most have the Seymours - if you see one check which it is. I tried the one with Seymours and it was great - the other one may be too but worth checking.
    Red ones are better.

    Thanks all, found the review.

I think the axe has moved on a little since then as in the review it had S-1 switching not the coil taps?

also I think Timmyo is right there seems to be a Korean and an American one, the Korean is still Fender right?

I love the Tele shape and I was hoping that this one would be a good all rounder - I have an early '80s JV squier strat ('62 model) which gives me those sounds plus the trem so I kind of thought this would give me pretty much most other sounds, I was just a bit concerned that maybe it might be a bit aggressive? I play rock and blues mostly but not really HM or shred

    opinions would be welcomed

    Thanks

The Korean is still Fender yes - they seem to make certain models there (eg Lite Ash series are Korean too)

It looks like they've gone to Fender pickups - they used to have SDs and you still see them in shops with the SDs in. imho the Korean one at c. 400 street price, with the SDs is a great guitar

Celticaster, any Tele especially an American one, is a great guitar and a very good all round instrument. Not so good for high speed widdling or dive bombing but it will cover most other bases very well. Leo got it very right from the start.

these are quite different though - set mahogany neck and so forth . . .
