There may be no waste but the environmental impact of the internet is massive. It maybe that good old fashioned print from sustainable forests has less environmental impact than the web. It is estimated that within ten years the net will consume over 50% of the world's generated energy.

As for CD cases they are also environmentally friendly when compared to the CDs themselves. CD cases are made from recycled plastic, and they can be recycled or reused.

I guess for Guitarist it's an economic argument as the labour costs for inserting the CD into the jewel case are high.

Obviously I'm no publishing expert but I'd have thought it would give more time to finalise content too (no mastering/pressing deadlines etc ?)

You do this for Futuremusic AFAIK... plus many a european publication does this as well (Orkus, Sonic Seducer)...

I liked it inside the mag. Therefore the CD always stays with the mag!
