    Default 1977 guitar??

My fella turns 30 at the end of August. I really want to get him something from the year he was born in a playable state (he has a gig that night). I don't really know where to start. He already has a Fender Mustang from that year. He also has a newer Gibson SG and an Aria Pro. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also, how much should / will I be spending? Cheers in advance.

Dean introduced the ML in 77, maybe one of those, there are also available as reissues. Looking at your fellas geets, he has room for a pointy one..

PS, If you ever ditch him and want someone else to buy guitars for, I am available.......

Had a look at the Dean ML and it's lovely looking. I know what you mean by pointy now. Sorry to be a spanner. Thanks again.

As an alternative, I'm kinda drawn to the white Gibson Les Paul Junior Billie Joe signature. Anyone got one? What do you reckon??

I know, I shouldn't really choose a guitar based on the leopard print lining inside the hard case (quite gorgeous). That's why I'm asking the advice of you lovely people. I had seen it for £850 on ebay (new), is that still too much? Ok then, what about the Gretsch Americana Acoustic collection? A lot more reasonably priced (in fact would have £750 spare). I appreciate that it's got begger all to do with 1977. Oh, I don't know what to get, without asking. Any punk rockers got any advice as to what they'd be happy to receive, without me having to do a bank job with the mother in law first??

Cookie, you dont want to be posting sentances like your last one around these parts...............................

The 850 price on ebay is the cheapest Ive seen, speaking as an old punk rocker and in hommage to Joe Strummer, a black american telecaster.

If you like the junior shape, Gordon Smith gs1, in TV yelllow, at around 500 is a great guitar.
