Default Best Place To Find Band/Jam Partners?

Hi, first post on this forum.

I'm looking to find other guitarist and musicians to get together and jam with. With the intention of having a good time, and maybe, if things work out well getting a band together to start gig'ing.

However, so far I have placed an advert in the back of Guartist magazine and on a small strange free guitar website, with very limited response from interesting characters!

I've looked in the local guitar shop for notices, but they are either for 15 year old's, the serious mature pro, or heavy metal bands, of which I'm none.

Where is the best place for a 29 yr old, gig standard guitarist to advertise and find other to jam with? Is there a specific website for band members looking for others? I'm interested in initially playing covers from Paul Weller, Hendrix, RHCP, Fun Lovin Criminals, Clapton, Cream, Jack Johnson. Based in Chichester, West Sussex.

    Any advice welcome. Cheers. Cliff.

    Welcome.

Looks you're doing the right things. Look for local open-mic nights or jam sessions - that's where musicians often meet up.

There may be some like minded weirdos, er .. I mean musos on here, never know.

Sorry for a slight hijack, but how do you go about finding members of the opposite sex for a (hopeful) lifelong commitment? Baffles me.

The best site, I've found is Musofinder.

It used to be free to contact other members but you have to pay a fairly nominal amount now to contact people.

I found my singer on there who already had a drummer lined up (ironically who I played in a band with about 7 years prior) and we subsequently found our bassist in there as well. Everyone I met was completely normal and there's some very good musicians on there.

I'm from Sussex as well and there's plenty of people on there from the areas so you might want to head over there.
