Default Cheap but good reverb pedal for blues harp

    Hi,

My mate is suffering from GAS in relation to his blues harp playing. He's gone through a variety of mics and amp/pre-amps and seems to have sorted his sound with an Harp Attack pedal [1] and a Pro Junior combo. However, he now wants some reverb.

He seems to think he'd prefer a pedal to a rack-mout unit (eg. Nanoverb) but I've never used any pedals since I have reverb on my amp and in my ME-X.

    Can anyone offer any opinions/recommendations?

    Thanks,

    R.

The Marshall Reflector has a good rep for being cheap but good - not tried one myself.

trying to amplify a gob iron without inducing feedback is hard enough without adding reverb to the equation!

Still, he's probably looking for a vintage spring reverb tone, old fender amp type I guess. The obvious off the shelf answer for a pedal is the Boss FRV-1. Our sax player uses one with no difficulty. Like a lot of reverbs sounds great in a rehearsal room and then absolutley dissapears in a band mix in a large room.

However, if he likes his Lone Wolf Harp Attack why doesn't he get a Lone Wolf Harp Delay? Should do what he wants. Harmonicas Direct seem to be the only UK stockist, £132.99, not massively more than the Boss.

oops - just read the word 'cheap.' Depends what he think 'cheap' is? I suspect a lot of cheap guitar reverb pedals just wont do what he wants and wont help with any feedback issues.

It's more usual to see a delay pedal rather than reverb being used with harp - I have seen Boss DDs of various ages and also analog delays - the harp player in my band has a Keeley modified analog delay - sounds very nice.

    He's already got a delay - Boss DD-3.

I too reckon the FRV-1 would be a good choice; or I could fit a "proper" spring reverb to his Pro Junior.

Anyway, I've just bought him a Nanoverb cheap to see how he gets on with it. He may decide that lots of reverb is a bad idea after all. I suspect he mainly wants it for "When The Levee Breaks..,"

I had one, really good pedal for the money. Wish I'd kept mine.
