    Bernie (Jack Black)

Wow - I like this film. Even if you find Jack Black extremely irritating give this one a chance. This is the performance of his career.

He was actually really good in Margot At The Wedding as well, slowly but surely proving that he doesn't need to munch scenery and act like a 12 year old with ADHD.

not a film but i have been watching lots of star trek voyager recently - at the start of the series i thought that i wouldnt have any of the voyager crew in my fantasy star trek crew but i might actually have the emh as the chief medical officer because all the other chief medical officers are a bit lame (apart from maybe bones) and - more importantly - tuvok is now definitely my favourite chief security officer - he is awesomely cool - i didnt remember him being cool when it was on telly but he is - if i could have worf and odo and tuvok i would be i cant so im sticking with tuvok

which segues neatly to this bit of the internet - it seems that tim russ (tuvok) is trying to make a new star trek series - go to kickstarter and encourage him

which also seques neatly to exactly the same bit of the internet - i know the guys making that arctic surrealo-sci-docu-fi film - definitely go to kickstart and encourage them - if you have $10k lying around you could be on the imdb as an executive producer even though its kinda cheating - if you pay your way you might be able to go to norway with them to have a few pints but gareth and mar are irish so they can really put the stuff away

I liked him in King Kong. I think part of that was the fact it wasn't HIS film so he had to do what a proper director told him to do. And he wasn't told to be Jack Black which is the problem with most of the stuff he churns out.

Voyager, like all "modern" Treks, didn't get good til halfway through season 3, but once it got there it was brilliant.

I still think it's a great shame they killed Enterprise just as the writers were getting the hang of it.

yeah - enterprise wouldnt get a look-in on my fantasy crew - tbh im struggling with ds9 - i think ill have to introduce a "galley/bar" category so guinan and neelix can make way for quark as the sole ds9 representative

I rather liked DS9 it had a slightly richer flavour than Voyager which was just the same as TNG or TOS (or Andromeda, I think Roddenbury had a fixation with doing the whole one ship wandering space doing stuffs because he didn't like other plots) with different a different crew... but then DS9 had Babylon 5 as recent inspiration which was definitely richer and broader (its grasp sometimes exceeding its reach)... Plus something about Janeways voice made me want to punch puppies in the face.

    Right back to films.

Last week I watched a film in IMAX.

The film was one of my favourites when I was a child and so I have many fond memmories still, but it was initially released a few months after I was born so I never got to see it at the cinema.

Dah dah dah-dah, dah dah-dah, dah dah dah-dah dah dah dah dah dah...

Indiana Jones and the Raiders Of The Lost Ark

    10/10

Frankly I was amazed at how beautiful some of the film stock was when transfered to IMAX. Low light pictures had some noise issues, but the well light outdoors scenes were so awesomely clear you'd have thought they were filmed on some super-mega-HD film camera yesterday rather than some decades ago.

The film was of course brilliant and the sound system in the IMAX screen really gave that sound track a good kick into your brain..

    Brilliant.

Were it not an ultra limited run of a week I'd say "go see it" instead I say "aww, you missed it... shame!"
