this, pretty much to a T - 6/10 might be a tad generous

I watched it the other night. I was expecting the worst as the 80's version is one of my favourite films. Wasn't toooooo bad but you're right about the CGI gore - it wasn't any better than the non-cgi stuff from 30 years ago.

Dark Shadows. Johnny Depp, Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer, etc in a Tim Burton film.

Not bad, but maybe not entirely sure what it wanted to be - a comedy or a romantic movie? Definitely not a rom-com.

6/10, maybe 7 - some decent funnies in the first half.

Very, very good. Much more up my street than the Hollywood stuff I normally put myself through in the cinema.

I would very much like to go out with Noomi Rapace.
    Totally agree on every front.

I knew NOTHING about the storyline etc when I watched this, and I was actually shocked by some of it.
Excellent film, though. Some cracking acting in it...and when was the last time you said that about a film?!

Voyager *never* got good. It has a couple of decent episodes, but over the whole 7 seasons or whatever it was it never rose above a resounding "meh". Janeway was dire. The EMH was quite a cool character, to be fair, but thats about it.

Enterprise was, as they (occasionally) say up here, pure gantin'.

The Original Series was the best, closely followed by TNG and DS9, with Voyager the runt of the litter and Enterprise as the weird uncle who nobody wants to invite round at Christmas.

You should read the books. The film was pretty decent (and I've heard surprisingly good things about the Daniel Craig version too) but the whole thing works much better on the page---the detail etc in the book really adds to it.
