    Underworld Awakening 2/10

Oh dear. I must've offended whichever cosmic force is controlling the universe these days, as not even Kate Beckinsale in leather could make it entertaining. Absolutely terrible film

When we got Lovefilm in April I put The Artist as our number 1 choice for rental. Eventually came last week and watched it Sunday. Posted it back and cancelled Lovefilm.

Anyhoo, the film split the family - 16 year old and I enjoyed it, Mrs theweary and 12 year old thought it was tedious and stopped watching. Our jack russell had a bark along in parts so I think he enjoyed it!

Quite close to being a re-imagining of Singing in the Rain with chunks of Sunset Boulevard. Singing in the Rain being one of my favourite Hollywood musicals and I feel a great urge to rewatch it now.

Certainly a bit different for a modern movie.

I was ill over the weekend so watched:

The Good The Bad & The Ugly: Awesome, obviously, because it's got Clint and the other two in it. Plot summary: three men spend three hours looking at each other suspiciously. The 'looking at each other' plot device is broken up nicely by shooting, lynching, and dragging each other on forced marches through the desert. Also, they blow up a bridge.

The Seventh Continent: Michael Haneke's debut where a couple get fed up with the futility of every day life and decide to destroy everything in their lives, including their possessions, their daughter and themselves. Not exactly a joy-fest, even for art-house. Powerful though.

Apocalypse Now: The theatrical cut rather than the redux (which has some good bits but some shit as well that I couldn't be bothered with). Martin Sheen hunts down Marlon Brando in the jungle because Brando is prejudiced against termites, or something. The exact reasoning escapes me but doesn't appear to matter.

Serenity. Quite enjoyed it in a non complicted way. I missed the whole firefly thing, so it was all new to me. I liked the concept, thought there was some nice room there for a bit of creativity.
None of you seem to understand; I'm not locked in here with you, you'll all locked in here with me.

I saw Serenity first and Firefly second.I think they did a clever job with the film - rounding up story lines left over from the tv series but still works as a film in its own right.

Halfway through watching our latest LoveFilm offering, namely Hugo.

So far it's very enjoyable, and quite odd.

I liked that. The kids liked it. Mrs Theweary hated it ( not enough zombies in it for her). Very pretty movie.

Going Postal. Just see Ms Foy again.
By this time tomorrow however I hope to have seen Dark Knight Rises. Assuming the DVD arrives.
