    Dredd.

loved it. Needed to be longer and have a bit more dark humour, but still very good.

    Hunger Games.
really enjoyed it! Much better than I expected.
The Reverend Lord Henry was not one of those new-fangled parsons who carry the principles of their vocation uncomfortably into private life.

I did miss some of the topical satire of the comic, but with the huge lead time of a film, almost impossible. Peach Trees should have been Jimmy Savile Block, of course.

I've watched a few things recently:

Back To The Future 10/10. One of the best films ever, faultless family fun.

The Bone Collector 1/10. I didn't think it would be good, but I didn't think it would be this bad either. The plot is beyond belief and there are absolutely no twists you can't guess. I knew who the killer was after about 15 minutes.

Iron Sky 7/10. A strange film, this. In many ways its utterly brilliant but in many ways its utter crap too. But not in a consistent way---its like it was written by committee. Some of the jokes are brilliant, some of them are awful. Some of the dialogue is really good, some of it is terrible. Some of the plot is really clever, other bits don't make sense at all. What I will say, though, is that its an absolutely glorious looking film. Whoever did the design work for this deserves an Oscar---seriously---because all of the Nazi sets and spaceships are utterly believable and brilliantly designed. Well worth seeing, but ultimately a bit frustrating.

    The Grey - 3/10

Was looking forward to seeing this, Liam Neeson is usually pretty good...but even he couldnt make this steaming pile of turd work. Weak script, cop out ending, dont waste your time.

    Big thumbs down.

    The Debt : http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1211195-debt/

Bloody brilliant imo - some of the reviews I'd read of it were a bit 'meh' so I was really surprised at how fantastic it is. Well acted (from both cast timelines) and brilliantly tense and a bit twisty.
    Red ones are better.

Yep, "The Debt" was excellent, but then I thought "The Grey" was too.

I saw "The Hobbit" yesterday. Oh dear. Sylvester McCoy was good, the rest ...

Les Miserables - thought I was going to like it, but not half as much as I did. Fab film I thought and I'm certainly not much of a musical theatre goer, which might be the reason I s'pose?!

I saw Life of Pi yesterday, and the Impossible today.

Both really good films, the Impossible was harrowing, but really well done.

    Carrie

The saddest horror film ever, still holds it's own and a brillant performance from Sissy Spacek.

Snow White and the Huntsman on DVD.

Mrs DJ wanted to see this, so I picked a copy up in HMW (RIP) the other week to use the last of my Xmas vouchers (just in time!)

Would have been nice if the girl playing Snow White had just a tiny bit of personality or screen presence, but she was a dull as anything (and certainly not the fairest of them all).

Some cheap looking CGI, a few silly bits in the plot, and a bit too long, but Charlize Theron did some good mad bitch acting as the wicked queen/step mum.

Plenty of good actors in the cast, but a lot of talent wasted.

    5/10
