I saw that again the other week - yes, starts well. I think its an okay movie.

Oh, and had to sit through the Day After Tomorrow recently - another one that starts well and ends up ridiculous. The vast amount of CGI dates it as well - just doesn't look good enough.

    Apocalypto. On BBC2 t'other night. 8/10.

16th Century South America. Nice Mayans in cosy village get captured by Nasty Mayans... lots of violence, rape and pillage. Nasty Mayans take Nice Mayan survivors to big town for sacrifice. Stuff happens, one escapes, film turns into chase movie. Lots of blood and guts. Bit too long, nice twist at the end though.

    Somewhere - 7/10

Stephen Dorff in a film that, despite the title, doesn't actually go anywhere. Really easy to watch, but got the impression that the film makers felt the need to give it a sort of ending, and that let it down.

Prolly watch it again, if only for the pole dancing twins

Erm, last time I ent to the cinema was over 2 years ago, and it was 'Mirrors', which I'd give a 7/10.

Last film on telly/DVD is probably Dumb And Dumber about 6 months ago, and that's a definite 10/10.

    I loathe films.

Great Expectations (1947). Awesome story and brilliantly made. 10/10.

It's quite interesting the change in acting styles since this was made, when actors were predominantly stage actors and adapted their styles for film.

Submarine - I enjoyed the quirkiness of it & also the soundtrack 7.5/10 imo.

    The Next 3 Days: 8/10

Ordinarily, I'd give a film like this a 7 at most, but...well, I'm not sure whether it was the pace, the acting or just the general atmosphere, but I was actually stressed on the protagonist's behalf for the last 45 minutes of the film. Any film that can do that gets promoted to the 8+ league.
