Advice re: bought guitar
Recently I bought a guitar from a guy over at UG, and it arrived.
The packaging wasn't brilliant, and arrived with a hole in it - it'd taken a good knock.
After removing the strings this morning, the knock seems to have wobbled the neck in a hefty fashion, leaving one side of the neck join with paint cracked off it, a hairline on the other side, and the neck shifting back and forth against the body.
What's the best way to deal with this? Ask the seller for my money back and ship him his guitar? Discuss insurance payments from the parcel company? (Although I doubt they'll cover the actual cost paid). The payment was made via paypal purchase of good, adjusted so I covered the fees.
I recently sold a guitar on e-bay and had to ship from Fife down to Nottingham.
Every courier website I checked had terms and conditions that were specific for each item - guitars were included in this.
They advise that guitars have to be shipped in hard cases and will not be liable for any damage caused if not, so I doubt there'll be any point contacting the courier.
Send it back it was not packed properly so it's down to the sender

Yup, seller's problem if it arrived damaged and he hadn't packed it decently. Send it back.

Indeed - it's the seller's responsibility to ensure it arrives intact.

Quick update on this:
I was told that the insurance claim had been filed with TNT, and that his father was handling everything, I gave the seller the benefit of the doubt(oh Drum you softie... ) and asked him for proof that the insurance had been paid for, and a claim started. After a week of no replies, I went ahead and opened the paypal claim (which went to his father's email address/paypal account). The refund request was refused, and the dad informed me that he had no idea what was going on, the son hadn't mentioned it. After forwarding him the details, I received a very apologetic email from the dad who is promising to bring this matter to a satisfactory close.
There are elements of this that are making me feel very uncomfortable still, however. The email from the dad mentions things like the son needing to sell an amp to refund me, and him being on low income due to disability. I also got an email from the son on the same evening, apologizing for not getting back sooner due to a lack of internet, but with no details re: insurance etc.
I'm unsure whats going on now, and as I have said, this has left me ill at ease. I'm hoping (after I provide more photos of damage) that the father will refund me the money, I can return the guitar, and I can be done with it. If that is not the case , lets say, worst case scenario, the father claims to not be able to refund my money for X amount of days, or something similar, how would people suggest next steps be taken? I assume I am covered legally for the receipt of damaged goods?

@Drum - Im curious as to why, if the packaging was so clearly damaged and had recieved a knock, why did you go ahead and sign for it?
