Default Closest to a Strat sound with Gibson feel?

All hypothetical as I is skinter than a skint thing but...

I've been hankering for a strat for some time now but I've never really got on with the feel of Fenders. Whether it's the scale length or neck profile I'm not sure, probably a bit of both but I've never bonded with one the way I do with a Gibbo. Plus I think most strats are fugly.
So how can I get my strat fix in a more familiar Gibson style guitar?

I realise the differing scale lengths, woods etc mean I'll never get it spot on but is there anything close? PRS maybe? (although it would have be sans AAAAAAAAAAA flamymapleblingtop with birds and diamonds and stuff)

    Merci boocoop.

I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

You could change the pups to tapable or stacked ones to make it even "stratier".
(if the pups are not Wilkinson stacked ones already)

It requires a bit of a leap of faith, but the coil taps on a Yamaha SG can turn it from a snarling Les Paul-alike into a twangy and slightly honky (?) softy. If I was remotely talented, I reckon it'd be great for funking out...

depends what part of 'stratty' you want ??

If you want the lovely neck sound - then not a problem just split yer HBs....or tap yer P90s......... you want pos 2 / 4 quck then you're probably going to have to look at something with a middle s/c pup...........................the thicker more Lestery the body, the more cutting s/c you're gonna need

There is also a gibson SG special single coil...

You could easily do a cheaper version by buying an SG copy and getting a custom made scratchplate from somewhere like the Aurora project. Would require some routing but you could turn it into swimming pool routing fairly easily.

For me wood is the big one, your not going to get strat tones from a mahogany body and neck... so I'd shoot for one of these (used from ebay should be cheap)...

Alder and maple then coil tap the pups... probably the cheapest way to get an LP to sound like a strat

He's right you know, they are very versatile guitars.

PRS are great, you can get a CE that might fit the bill and it hasn't got all the 14 karat gold encrusted PRS signature balony on it!
