Default Ethical question - Fake Jem

If someone, hypothetically, of course, some B****** had sold me a fake Jem, on the basis that it was real, what are the ethics of me selling it on, but telling the buyer that it is a fake?

Would it be an issue on the basis that I was selling something jem shaped, if someone bought it in full knowledge?

If it's says Ibanez it would still be wrong, legally speaking. Morally, not so much I guess if you're up front about it, but there's no way of knowing the buyer wouldn't then sell it on as a real one

if it is convincing enough, i wouldnt give a damn, id just want to make my money back! if they buyer complains, just let on that you bought it on the pretense that it was authentic, and that he should take it up with the guy YOU bought it off XD

    .

No, I think that would be fine. Because you would be being totally honest in selling a fake jem. Someone might be looking to buy a fake jem.

This is very different from a b*rs'd selling you a fake jem but telling you it was a real one.

If you're being up front with them then it's their choice to buy it or not. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I agree with Sporky on this.

I wouldn't want to mislead anyone anyway, it's just that even though it's not a bad instrument, the shine has gone off it completely, so I don't want it, and rather than using it as firewood, I want to at least get something back on it.

However, it seems that having the word Ibby on the headstock causes an issue.

If you're up front about it being fake then I don't see any huge issues...

No way of getting a refund from the original seller?
Awesome - rock mashups and covers
