    Default Machine Head, Brixton Academy

Well, they've taken over BA for the weekend. I got there last night to have missed the first 2 support bands. Caught Trivium, with their silly 80's ramps & steps running about stage set. To be honest, I just don't get them at all.

Then they did a cheer thing for the previous support bands. Except Dragon Force got booed which I thought mighty amusing. How could all of Brixton Academy be wrong?

Then the mighty Machine Head came on. Rob was clearly pissed out of his head. Fluffed tune after tune. The whole experience was a right downer. OK, so this is the 6th time I have seen them, they're bound to get it wrong once or twice. But if you're a touring musician for a living, can't you figure out not to get pissed till after the show?

    That annoys me greatly.

I saw Pantera when Phil was so pissed he could hardly walk. (no pun!)

and yet after seeing them at the OzzFest I know what an awesome show they could put on.
The Reverend Lord Henry was not one of those new-fangled parsons who carry the principles of their vocation uncomfortably into private life.

Yep I hate bands/people that can't preform because they're wasted. If they can preform when they're wasted then game on but not if they can't.

I was supposed to be going to that gig with Chrispy, but our guestlist places didn't pan out in the end. Glad I didn't bother now

Never had the fortune to see Pantera, but when I saw Down a couple of years ago at Download he was pissed at 11am!

Got to meet him backstage though and he was being humped by Jerry Cantrell, not something you get to see on an average day

Shocking for someone of Machine Head's calibre

I remember seeing The Cult with Astbury off his bonce and it was appalling

You just experienced a metal version of every gig Pete Doherty has ever played.

    Note: played.

At least he showed up to play a shit gig
I'm back and better than ever.

    My AAA passes did!

I didn't notice anything unduly crappy about MH's performance? I saw Rob and Phil before the show and both turned down the offer of a drink.

Mind you, I was absolutely slaughtered by the time MH took the stage so.....
