Then I'd suggest getting yourself over to
www.mikedolbear.com/forum (sorry musicradar - there just isn't a critical mass over drummers on here yet . . . ) where you'll get all the advice you need and more. A fair few of them are from the Bristol area including the fella who's the main drum man at the new Bristol branch of BIMM (who I met at the IGF last year and who helped steer me through my recent purchases) but they are all a good bunch.
As a sweeping generalisation secondhand (as long as they were looked after) will get you twice the cymbal for your money.
I've got a (very good) spare ride that I'll be selling for £70-80 when my latest eBay bargain arrives next week.
