progression cycles that move internally and externally. Does anyone have any cycling tips like any rules for stacking triads on top of each other? Is there a generic rule for stacking a simple minor with other types of diatonic or chromatic chords?? or do you have to think :/ace+ceg/ace+dfa/ace+egb/ace+fca/ace+gbd/ace+adf/ace_bdf:: you can stack progressions on top of each other to guide your melodic harmonies?

what was that thing i heard about playing a minor pentatonic that is 5 tones away from the tonic if you want to sound good? was it that it 5 tones or 5+1/2tones from the route key... i heard about it but never remembered what it was and only got it to work once by accident.
I dont think it would be 5 or 5+1/2 tones as those are only 1 tone or 1 semitone respectively from where you started - yuk!
If you are talking about a major tonic say C you can play the Aminor pent.over it which is a bit sugary but ok.(a minor 3rd down)
If you are talking about a minor say Cm you can use the Gm pent which sounds a bit more outside but dont over do it.(a perfect 5th up)

    Hmmmm. See this: http://pianoencyclopedia.com/scales/...iminished.html

I'm not sure why the scale I quoted is 'Lydian' because its 4th is perfect not augmented. However wikipaedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmonic_major_scale) also refers to it as Lydian Diminished.

Clearly something I need to study more.

EDIT on my travels I also found the double harmonic scale, characterised by b2 and b6. Ritchie Blackmore - Gates of Babylon

Works 5 frets up and 7 frets up from the position 1 box of the minor pentatonic
