Default Next on Flip Jnr's kit upgrade

We've got him a set of Paiste PST3 cymbals for Christmas (any good?), along with a Dixons rack, and next will be a kit upgrade (he's got a very used, very cheap, very nasty Thunder kit at the moment).

So, for next year, maybe a decent kit? Or should I get him a decent snare first?

Expect many more questions about which kit/snare etc.

Oh, and drummers can use computers? Whatever next?

    Hope he likes 'em dude!

If his kick drum sounds something like, that's half the battle, so a good snare (£100+) would be something that'd probably last him for life. That said, many of the mid-range kits now include snares that are cracking (pardon the pun) for the money; I'm well happy with my Premier Cabria kit that cost two hundred notes off of t'bay (and I flogged on the cymbals that came with it as well as a stand I didn't need any more for eighty 8) ).

Yamaha's Gigmaker kits are good cheapies from what I've heard; the thing is that most cheaper kits will have SHIT heads on 'em. If you can drop on something like I did and get a low-to-mid range 'name' kit (Premier, Pearl, Yamaha, Tama, Sonor etc; as long as it's got decent shells) for a couple of hundred quid off of ebay, than maybe allow another ton to put good heads on it (Remos, Evans or something) you'd have a kit that most pros would probably be happy enough to play.

Your lad can tune drums, right?
