    Learn new songs? Pah.
Take all my gear to practice? Pah.
Turn up to extra practices to prepare for shitty pub gig? Pah.

    ...just can't be arsed.

I want to play Alice In Chains, not Ian Dury.

    It's quittin' time.

Unless you tell them you'd rather play Alice In Chains and they say "awesome, why didn't you say so?"

I'd rather play Ian Dury. The guy behind the counter in WH Smiths does tell me about his Alice in Chains tribute band though when I buy a guitar mag, sounds fun. Perhaps you should get talking to more shop assistants.

I'd love to play both. In the same band. I'd quite like to see Ian Dury fronting AiC too, but that's another matter.

Great film about Dury with old Andy The Circus in it. (Was it called Sex and Drugs and Rock n Roll...? I can, alas, confirm that I wasn't in it... )

On reflection, this is pretty much exactly the problem a lot of musicians have with cover bands- he who pays the proverbial piper and all that- so unless you can find gigs where the crowd want to hear "Man In The Box" more than they want to hear " 'it Me Wiv Your Rivvim Stick" then it sucks to be you.

It's back to the old debate of should I be in a band I'm not happy in or do nothing at all. Realistically, if I leave this band I'm not going to do anything else.

So far I have come down on the side of 'rather be in some band than no band' but I think I am so unenthusiastic about it now it will probably self destruct at some point.
