It's really sad that the Beeb have given away F1 - they didn't lose it. I like the coverage.

But I already have a Sky Sports HD package so I'll get the new dedicated Formula 1 channel at no extra cost. I think having a whole channel dedicated to the sport is going to be really interesting and am looking forward to seeing what they come up with. Brundle is already on-board,

There's much speculation as to whether Sky will make the F1 channel available via Virgin Media (as they do at a charge with their other packages like Sports and Movies) - the official line is currently a bit non-commital : https://my.virginmedia.com/customer-...rticles/SKYF1/

(relevant for me as I'm broadly happy with VM and have all the rest of my services with them)
    Red ones are better.

I'm with Virgin too, I don't want to pay for any extra sports channels that I'll never watch though. We only ever watch Eurosport and Extreme as we're into motorsport, cycling and suchlike rather than football.

    +1

Apparently, the BBC didn't think of offering Bernie less for the coverage or scrapping Wimbledon, which is a monumental waste of cash given the lack of UK talent. They just wanted out of something that doesn't fit in with the corporation's stance on global warming - F1 isn't eco-friendly. The rumour is F1 will be on Sky only from 2013 - part of the reason that Brundle has jumped ship.

Dropping Wimbledon was out of the question as it's the only tennis the BBC shows properly, it's a UK-based tournament and hugely popular among the general populous.

But how they're justifying keeping BBC3 on air I have no clue. There isn't a single show on there that couldn't be on 1 or 2 instead, replacing something shit from the main 2 channels. The trouble is they've decided they need 4 channels in order to "compete" with ITV/4/5, which is daft, since they aren't meant to compete, they're supposed to be a public service

I enjoy Wimbledon too. I do play tennis a little though. Which reminds me, the Aegon Masters from the Albert Hall starts on Wednesday, that really is one of the highlights of my sporting year. Hugely entertaining.

I would be so gutted if there was no BBC F1 coverage, I like the presenting team, I know Brundle is going but..

I used to watch F1 when it was shown on Eurosport too, I don't remember why now.

Answer this question. Why does the BBC refuse to publish the cost of Wimbledon? It's rumoured to be astronomical, which is why Sky hasn't bothered to bid. Tim Henman was reported to have been paid £14K per day for his analysis and next year's will be in 3D.

At least F1 supports the UK economy and British technology. Wimbledon just proves what a bunch of losers we Brits are when it comes to tennis.

Don't get me wrong, F1 over tennis every time. especially now Ivanisevic only plays in the masters.

People don't just watch F1 because British drive's or teams do well, planty of folks support drivers/teams of other nationalities, same goes for tennis, not every Brit supports Murray (who would anyway the miserable sod).
