I think he has been lucky all year Alonso and Hamilton have not had that much luck

Ferrari to protest Vettel for an illegal overtake under yellow. This will give Alonso the title.

I doubt they'll actually lodge a protest. There's a marshall waving a green flag just before the overtake. Most videos with careful slow-down analysis conveniently don't notice it:

Yeh, I know. As much as I'd prefer to have had Alonso the winner, I'm sure Ferrari will have seen that bit of video and while they might ask for FIA confirmation, the result wont be changing.

I'm surprised they left it so long. Its seems an odd tactic.

    Same here.

The moment for an appeal is past. Ferrari would be best served in channeling their efforts into developing a race winning car.

The BBC reports that the footage was only discovered late because the main global feed was showing a replay of the start at the time.

Irrespective of who is the winner of the championship, if Vettel overtook under yellows then the rules are clear - 20 second penalty.

The web is full of bollocks about Ferrari should concentrate on building a winning car. Yes they should. But that is comparing applies with landmines. A Winning car has no bearing at all on whether another driver broke the rules. It's a pointless argument.

Green means go in any rule book and the "flag" was allegedly green . By "flag" I mean the real flag not a dash board bulb controlled by someone activating it.
The argument is based on priority of the race status notification methods i.e flags vs dash lights and which part of the track that notification apply's to. So if Vettel drove past a green flag before over taking then you'd have to assume that he thought flags have priority .
To dish out a penalty you'd have to prove flags dont count if dash lights contradict .
