    yup, i reckon one would probably have been great for me but i "sold-out" and bought a taylor 214, been after a taylor for years - they were the first company that made me notice that all acoustics dont look the same

    Good question...maybe it's because it's more important that all the strings ring clearly and aren't muted (unless you want them to be) and thats easier to do if there's more space between them? Not sure a wider spacing is great for country style picking though because some of the chord shapes are adapted to fret two strings with a single finger - that's hard enough with standard spacing....

    To me it just feels more natural, but more at the right hand than the left... I see what you are saying it makes no difference to the left hand fretting chords if the fingerboard is a few mm wider, but it makes a difference to picking accuracy when picking out individual strings if the strings are wider apart at the bridge end.... I appreciate this has nothing to do width nut width though........ perhaps its psycological.... or perhaps it's just me.... but it really does feel more natural to pick individual strings out of the string spacing all the way up the fretboard is a tad wider than usual.
