Long time favourite. Also have a listen to some Andres Segovia, read his wiki. Smooth italian git.
Except he was from Spain. (Linares, where I got married and Manolete was killed in the ring)

Had a great evening recently watching a guy called Richard Durrant deliver a concert of (mostly) Paraguayan classical guitar, e.g. Barrios. Sounds a bit dry, eh? Totally unstuffy and highly recommended...you can't beat a solo acoustic gig for intimacy...find one and go!

n.b. also saw Clive Carroll a couple of weeks ago...incredible stuff...he keeps getting better ;-)

+1 I saw John Williams in concert once and he played a lot of Barrios. There is an album called The Great Paraguayan by John Williams which is just brilliant.. like you say, its unstuffy, really refreshing compositions.

I have a CD of John Williams and the late Julian Bream playing duets; wonderful stuff. Also take a listen to Bream playing baroque pieces. I don't want to sound pretentious but classical guitar needs a different approach to listening to it-the more attention you pay to it, the more rewarding it is.

I might get a nylon string guitar and try and learn some Spanish type stuff this year.
I doubt, therefore I might be!

Not really classical, more flamenco, but both excellent musicians, and play with passion and are a joy to watch and listen to.
