    I went through a classical phase a fews year back, bought myself a lovely (budget) guitar too .... now long gone ....

    Anyhoo while i loved the playing and the challenge of learning to read notation, I found it very hard to listen to any classical guitar recordings because of the awful production on them. They all sounded (imo) woolly, flat, and drenched in reverb. Like the guitars were recorded in different rooms to where the mics were, or if the guitars were record in corridors; guitar at one end, mic at the other. So all the brightness and raspy-snappiness* you can get with a classical guitar was lost.

    Result = mush
